Nicole Foodman
Nicole is committed to helping people who struggle with reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, and math. She specializes in remediating language-based learning difficulties due to dyslexia and other learning disabilities. She also utilizes a multi-sensory approach to teach foundational math skills.
She has been working in the field of education since 2000.
Nicole holds three distinctive certifications:
1. The Center for Effective Reading Instruction - Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist (SLDI);
2. Academic Language Therapy Association - Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP); and
3. Certified Reading Specialist.
Nicole has a M.S. from St. Thomas University in Reading Education, a M.S. from Florida International University from the College of Education, and dual B.A.’s from Florida State University.
Nicole is trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is designed specifically for children and adults with language-based learning difficulties. These language-based learning difficulties are typically associated with dyslexia, but can apply to dysgraphia, ADD/ADHD, auditory processing disorder, and autism spectrum disorder. In addition, Nicole is also trained in Lindamood Bell’s, Visualizing and Verbalizing, Seeing Stars, and Cloud Nine Math Programs.
Nicole has taught at the college level, and in private and charter elementary and middle schools. She is a member of the International Dyslexia Association. Nicole's reading and dyslexia tutoring services are offered in Miami, Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Coconut Grove, South Miami, Doral, Brickell, Key Biscayne, and the Beaches.
